The Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission is once again pleased to host the 6th annual Indiana Bicycle Coalition BikeFest this Labor Day weekend, August 31 – September 3. Organized by the Indiana Bicycle Coalition in cooperation with the Dubois County Visitors Center, this fun-filled, bicycle festival will be headquartered in Jasper, Indiana with events taking place throughout the southern Indiana region. The BikeFest will be comprised of a wide variety of bicycling activities, making it a perfect event for people of all ages with varying cycling desires and abilities. Featured aspects of this event include mountain biking at Ferdinand State Forest, casual cruises along Jasper’s Riverwalk and on the trails of Patoka Lake State Park, and road tours ranging from 10-100 miles designed for any level of cycling.
Take part in unique architectural tours, including Ferdinand’s Monastery Immaculate Conception, St. Meinrad Archabbey, St. Joseph Church, and Holy Family Church. Visit AgVenture Acres Corn Maze (shaped as the state of Indiana), Huntingburg League Stadium (where A League of Their Own was filmed), sample wine at Winzerwald Winery, enjoy an ice cream social complete with live entertainment, or swim and enjoy the beach at Patoka Lake. Experience more of southern Indiana with visits to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Patoka Lake, French Lick Casino, and Marengo Cave - all just a short drive, or ride, away!
Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission, and Chris Hancock, executive director of the Indiana Bicycle Coalition, are looking forward to the 6th annual Indiana BikeFest. Says Ruhe, “We are very pleased to once again partner with the Indiana Bicycle Coalition to host the BikeFest. It is sure to be an enjoyable event that will draw many visitors to our area for a relaxing weekend getaway with family and friends.”
The BikeFest provides a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to take part in many aspects of the sport and to enjoy the beautiful scenery that southern Indiana has to offer,” said Hancock.
Participants from throughout the Midwest are expected to attend, including those from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. Says Hancock, “You don’t have to be a bicyclist to participate in the event – volunteers are needed and welcomed as well.”

The Dubois County Tourism Commission was established in 1992 by a Dubois County ordinance with the purpose of promoting the growth and development of the convention, visitor, and tourism industry in the county and is the one community organization empowered to do so. The Commission established the operation of the Visitors Center in January 2006. Commission members meet regularly at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the Visitors Center located at 2704 Newton Street in Jasper inside the Dubois County Museum building. These meetings are open to the public. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
