Featured on the front cover of the 2007 Indiana Festival Guide, the Jasper Strassenfest will celebrate its 29 year anniversary Thursday, August 2 through Sunday, August 5 in the southern Indiana city’s downtown.

The Jasper Strassenfest, celebrating the area’s rich German heritage, is a family-friendly street festival featuring carnival rides, parades, a Biergarten, Polka Masses, a variety of musical entertainment and performances, and dozens of unique contests and events for youngsters and those young at heart.

“We have been looking forward to the Strassenfest all year since we learned of its designation on the front cover of the 2007 Indiana Festival Guide,” said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission. “The lively atmosphere and sweet smell of German food make the Strassenfest one of Indiana’s finest festivals, attracting thousands of visitors each year, including those from as far away as Germany. The people of Jasper and Dubois County display such pride in their German heritage and embrace the opportunity to showcase that heritage to all who visit the area, especially during the Strassenfest.”
