August 19, 2010 -- Jasper, IN – Three local organizations in Dubois County will receive a total of approximately $8,000 in grant funding from the Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission’s Tourism Promotion Fund.
The Tourism Promotion Fund is designed to assist qualified not-for-profit organizations, events or tourism-related groups in initiating, developing and promoting increased tourism in the Dubois County area. The three recipients were carefully chosen by the Commission’s board members. Recipients for the July 2010 grant round include the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce for costs associated with tourist banner signage in various areas throughout Huntingburg; Dubois County Museum for signage to complete the Main Street Dubois County exhibit and children’s village and Jasper Community Arts Commission for tourism promotion of various events and performances.
“We were very pleased with the quality of grant applications we received,” said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Tourism Commission & Visitors Center. “It is wonderful to see the emphasis and value our local organizations place on attracting visitors to Dubois County.”
The Tourism Commission & Visitors Center awards grants two times per year. Application deadlines are January 15 and July 15 each year. Sports sponsorships are also awarded throughout the year with a deadline to submit an application no later than two months in advance of the tournament.
