Dubois County to Host First-ever NCBA Division 2 World Series
May 9th 2008

In conjunction with the Dubois County Visitors Center, Huntingburg, Indiana will play host to the first-ever NCBA (National Club Baseball Association) Division 2 World Series May 16-20 at League Stadium. The Visitors Center won the right to host the event by placing a bid and being chosen against other potential host cities. This is the first time for this event in NCBA history, and the sixth NCBA event Dubois County has hosted.

“We are honored to host the first-ever Division 2 World Series”, said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center. “This is quite an accomplishment for our staff, our county and everyone involved in securing this tournament. Our small-town atmosphere, genuine Hoosier hospitality, and outstanding sports facilities helped us win the bid. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the players, families, and fans to Dubois County.”

The Division 2 World Series is an 8-team, 5-day event that will bring approximately 200 collegiate club baseball players and over 200 families and fans from throughout the United States to Dubois County. All tournament games will be played at Huntingburg League Stadium with practices conducted at Jasper High School JV field and Forest Park High School field. Teams are coming from as far as New York, Wyoming, Texas and Virginia. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $5 per game. Week passes, good for admission to all games, are also available at $20 for adults, $16 for students and those 65 or older, $12 for children 12 years of age and younger. As a bonus to fans, each ticket has a coupon for use at Wendy’s and Grandy’s restaurants in the area. The first 500 fans through the gate will receive a voucher for free admission into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame. Jasper Inn & Convention Center, Jasper, is the host hotel for this event.

The Commission established the operation of the Visitors Center in January 2006. Commission members meet regularly at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the Visitors Center located at 2704 Newton Street in Jasper. These meetings are open to the public. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
