In conjunction with the Dubois County Visitors Center, Huntingburg, Indiana will again play host to the NCBA (National Club Baseball Association) Great Lakes Regional Tournament May 9-11 at League Stadium. The Visitors Center won the right to host the event two years ago by placing a bid and being chosen against other potential host cities, including Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo, Ohio, as well as Indianapolis and Chicago. The tournament was so well conducted the past two years that directors and participants chose to come back to Dubois County for this year’s tournament and have signed a contract to bring the 2008 Division 2 World Series here as well. That event will be held the following week, May 16-20.
“We are extremely pleased to once again have the opportunity to host the NCBA, especially two of their major events”, said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center. “Our small-town atmosphere, genuine Hoosier hospitality, and outstanding sports facilities helped us win the bid to host the tournament. Our staff worked very hard to accomplish this task, and we are looking forward to welcoming the players, families, and fans back to Dubois County for the third year in a row.”
The Great Lakes Regional Tournament is a 4-team, 3-day event that will bring approximately 100 collegiate club baseball players and over 100 families and fans from throughout Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin to Dubois County. The winner of this tournament will go on to play in the 2008 Division 1 World Series May 23-29 in Ft. Myers, FL. There will be no admission charge, and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Quality Inn, Huntingburg, is the host hotel for this event.

The Dubois County Tourism Commission was established in 1992 by a Dubois County ordinance with the purpose of promoting the growth and development of the convention, visitor, and tourism industry in the county and is the one community organization empowered to do so. It is funded solely through a five percent innkeepers tax collected on overnight stays at Dubois County lodging facilities. The Commission established the operation of the Visitors Center in January 2006. Commission members meet regularly at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the Visitors Center located at 2704 Newton Street in Jasper. These meetings are open to the public. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
