In conjunction with the Dubois County Visitors Center, Huntingburg, Indiana will again play host to the NCBA (National Club Baseball Association) Great Lakes Regional Tournament May 8-10 at League Stadium. Initially, the Visitors Center won the right to host the event a few years ago by placing a bid and being chosen against other potential host cities, including Columbus, Dayton, and Toledo, Ohio, as well as Indianapolis and Chicago. The NCBA has had such positive experiences in Dubois County that directors and participants chose to come back to Dubois County for the fourth consecutive year.
“We are extremely pleased to once again have the opportunity to host the NCBA”, said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center. “Our small-town atmosphere, genuine Hoosier hospitality, and outstanding sports facilities helped us win the bid to host the tournament. Our staff worked very hard to accomplish this task, and we are looking forward to welcoming the players, families, and fans back to Dubois County for the fourth year in a row.”
This Great Lakes Regional Tournament is a 4-team, 3-day event that will bring approximately 100 collegiate club baseball players and over 100 families and fans from across the Midwest. Teams playing for the regional championship are Miami University of Ohio, Northwestern University, University of Illinois and University of Michigan. The winner of this tournament will go on to play in the 2009 Division 1 World Series May 22-28 in Ft. Myers, FL. There will be no admission charge, and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Quality Inn, Huntingburg, is the host hotel.
