Dubois County Tourism Commission founding board member, Rosina Schuler, officially resigned from the tourism board last week after 17 years of service. Schuler was a charter member of the organization, which was established in 1992. Prior to, Schuler was part of a local group of individuals who offered tours to out-of-town visitors and had the foresight to create an official tourism commission in Dubois County. Schuler’s most recent position on the board was that of Secretary, which she held for the past 11 years.
“Rosina will be greatly missed,” said executive director Kristen Ruhe. “One thing that she will always leave with our staff and board is her enthusiasm and passion for Dubois County, her knowledge of the area and her hospitality toward our visitors.”
Along with being a founding member, Schuler entertains motorcoach bus groups who visit the area with German song and dance and gives tours of St. Joseph Church. She still plans to continue these traditions. Her replacement to the board has yet to be named.
The Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission promotes the growth and development of the convention, visitor, and tourism industry in the county and is the one community organization empowered to do so. Tourism contributes an estimated $81.1 million annually to the Dubois County economy.
