Dubois County and Southern Indiana Welcome Tour Operators
April 8th 2008

Dubois County will welcome nearly 30 tour operators and their guests to the area early next week for the annual Spring FAM (Familiarization) Tour. The Dubois County Visitors Center, in conjunction with the Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will host the tour participants from Tuesday, April 15 to Friday, April 18.

Motorcoach tour operators from all over the nation, with an emphasis on the Midwest, will experience the sights, sounds, and cuisine of the local area. The goal (of the tour) is for them to return to Dubois County and southern Indiana in the near future with their own motorcoach full of visitors.

“Hosting the FAM Tour provides us with a great opportunity to meet tour operators face-to-face and learn about their needs, interests and what they look for in a group tour destination,” said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission. “It allows us to showcase the attractions in our area and let the operators experience firsthand the fine attractions Dubois County and Southern Indiana has to offer.”

FAM Tour stops in Dubois County include Harvest Moon B&B, Best Home Furnishings, Monastery Immaculate Conception, Dr. Ted’s Musical Marvels, Huntingburg Fourth Street, Schnitzelbank, St. Joseph Church, and a dinner and tour at the Dubois County Museum featuring the Millhouse Restaurant, Kapp Winery and Chocolate Bliss. To promote the upcoming Lincoln Bicentennial, the group will also visit Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in nearby Spencer County. Visits to Orange County include stops at the French Lick Resort Casino, West Baden Springs Hotel, Beechwood Inn, French Lick Winery, Patoka Lake, Indiana Railway Museum and Wilstem Guest Ranch.
