Dubois County will welcome nearly 50 tour operators, their guests, and state tourism representatives to the area early next week for the annual Spring FAM (Familiarization) Tour. The Dubois County Visitors Center, in conjunction with the Orange County and Daviess County tourism offices, will host the tour participants from Tuesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 3 on one of the largest FAM Tours the area has ever hosted.
Motorcoach tour operators from all over the nation, with an emphasis on the Midwest, will experience the sights, sounds, and cuisine of the local area. The goal (of the tour) is for them to return to Dubois County and southern Indiana in the near future with their own motorcoach full of visitors.
“Hosting the FAM Tour provides us with a great opportunity to meet tour operators face-to-face and learn about their needs, interests, and what they look for in a group tour destination,” said Kristen Ruhe, executive director of the Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission. “It allows us to showcase the attractions in our area and let the operators experience firsthand the fine attractions Dubois County and Southern Indiana have to offer.”
FAM Tour stops in Dubois County include Harvest Moon B&B, Best Home Furnishings, Monastery Immaculate Conception, Dr. Ted’s Musical Marvels, Huntingburg Fourth Street, Jasper Arts Center, Schnitzelbank, Dubois County Museum, St. Joseph Church, Jasper Downtown Shopping District, and the Millhouse Restaurant. Visits to Daviess County include various stops at Amish shops and restaurants. The French Lick Resort Casino, West Baden Springs Hotel, Beechwood Inn, French Lick Winery, and Wilstem Guest Ranch will be featured in Orange County.
