First-ever Tourism Signage to be Installed in Dubois County

WHO: Dubois County Visitors Center

WHAT: The first-ever tourism wayfinding sign will be installed in Dubois County with a brief ceremony and raising of the sign. This event marks the beginning of 28 tourism signs that will be installed throughout Dubois County in the coming weeks directing visitors to the various attractions and lodging facilities in the County.

WHEN: Monday, September 27 at 8:45 a.m. Eastern Time

WHERE: Ferdinand, Indiana
The exact location of the first sign to be installed is on the west side of State Road 162 on the north end of Ferdinand between Industrial Park Road and SR 264. Attendees may park along the shoulder of Industrial Park Road.

WHY: The scope of this initiative is two-fold as the goal is for signage to serve as an informational tool for visitors and maximize their length of stay while also reminding local residents of the tourism opportunities that exist in their hometowns. This entire initiative was created and implemented by the Dubois County Visitors Center and is the product of many months of planning and collaboration with the Visitors Center, INDOT, Indiana Office of Tourism Development, cities and towns of Dubois County and 2 Sign Guys, the company Dubois County Visitors Center hired to design and install the signage. Dubois County Visitors Center is one of the first organizations in the state to implement a tourism wayfinding signage program as a countywide project.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The public is invited to attend. In the event of rain, installation will be postponed to a future date which would be announced by the Dubois County Visitors Center. For additional information, please call Kristen Ruhe at the Visitors Center at 812-482-9115 or email kruhe@visitduboiscounty.com

The Dubois County Visitors Center & Tourism Commission promotes the growth and development of the convention, visitor, and tourism industry in the county and is the one community organization empowered to do so. Tourism contributes an estimated $81.1 million annually to the Dubois County economy.
